A fellow collector showed me this. About 2' tall, pontiled, finished top, clear. Any info as to what it is, where manufactured, year etc would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Some vineyards, especially in Italy bottled the cheap a$$ wine in fancy bottles and charged a lot more for it because of the container just to get rid of the product. That's what I think it is. They did that, until very recently if the don't still. My guess is 1920's.

I would agree with the above answers but the "Tubular, open Pontil" scar (if that's what that is) has me questioning. I've never seen that on a cheap wine French / Italian 20th century bottle before. It also could be an even more recent product found in "Pier One" type stores but again the pontil scar has me wondering. Jim

I think 1890-1920 French or Italian wine bottle for sure. Seen them with labels before. Many of them are pontiled. Tooled lip so that gives the timeframe as well.
