Guys one more question. I recently got permission to metal detect an old colonial farmhouse and did pretty well in the hour or so i did it. Anyway, i talked to the landowner and she was very cool and said I could dig for bottles on the property too. I asked if she knew where the old outhouse was located and she said it was still there! She showed me inside and it was a 6' x 6' shed with everything still in tact. There were two benches inside with 6 holes cutout. All of them were filled in to the top. I scratched around the floor and was pulling out shards a few inches down. The shed seems to be built in the 1850's or so. Do you think this will produce, or do you think it was dipped? This is in the country, not the city.

I'd probably probe it first, but sounds like it has potential. Probe around it or look for depressions in the ground nearby. The privy house could be original, but the hole might not be. When they dug a new hole, often the old house was moved over it. Good luck.
