Dog and Cure

Hello there bottle people, I just dug this little dog and medicine today, I'm wondering what the dog would have been for/where it may be from. The bottle says "Knoxit Globules" and I think it was a cure for some kind of V.D.

I used to have a Knoxit bottle with the contents and partial label. The pills were nasty round black balls. The label was only a partial one and there was nothing on it about VD but that doesn't mean it couldn't have been on the missing parts of the label.
