i dug my first towsends yesterday, and it has a N I after albany , NY the " NI" is not as strongly embossed as the rest of the letters, does anyone know anything about that, and does it affect the vaue any? any info would be great
I have seen one or two of the NO 1 or N1 Townsends. Those and the other number variations are sought after by collectors. In general they increase value and desirability but color and condition are still major factors in value.
[] thanks alot for info, to me the bottle is priceless, the thrill of finding it outways the $$ value. I hope to keep it in a safe place so i can stare at it for a long time[] i wonder what the "NI" actually stands for?
Good question...I dont have a good answer.
They typically appear to be modifications crudely added to existing molds. They may indicate something about bottles made in certain molds (molds used by certain blowers, molds used for certain jobs, prototype molds)... hard to say.
