Can someone quickly, please explain this bottle? I cant find it on Google, or any books I have. Im thinking its an oil bottle, with the marble designed to keep the oil in on tippage or something. If I am wrong, correct me please! I would also like a price if anyone can find a source. Link me to it please. Thank you!!

(Edit: Forgot to mention the writing on it...."East Bay Gazzosa" Net contents 7 oz. Bottle made in Italy. Its aqua colored and about 7.75 inches tall.)

I remember seeing this type of bottle in Bermuda as a kid. I believe they are re-fillable carbonated beverage bottles. There would be a gasket for the marble to seal against when the pressure from the carbonation would keep it in place at the top of bottle.
Too drink...press down on the marble and hold the bottle so that the lips would hold it away from the opening while consuming. I remember my parents having some of them. Some were torpedo bottoms that could only be stood up in a stand.
Perhaps the Gazossa was an Italian soda?

Aha! A Codd Bottle! Thank you!! I still have no clue what a Gazzosa is. hehe Ive even looked up in an Italian translator, and my guess is a s good as yours. Im beginning to think maybe it was a name or something. Since Codd bottles were broken for their marbles inside.....that would make them valuable to find one intact right?

Some Codd style bottles were made in the 1960s and 70s in Italy, China and India.
They were used for tea and soda. They were not used filled in the US because of FDA restrictions.

An antique dealer near me had a case of empties a couple of years ago and couldn't get 5 bucks apeace for them.

I beleave Codd's patent bottles were made in England and possibly Australia. We have some forum members from both countries that can verify if this is correct.

Wouldnt the air bubbles and clarity make a change in the value of the bottle? I mean this baby is MINT! :) Im sure its worth more than 5 bucks.

I guess it's Italian for Fizzy soft drink. http://www.proz.com/kudoz/139030
If it's like was said earlier and made in the 60's or later, maybe not.
