I updated my web site with a page I started on Electric Medicines.
http://www.antiquemedicines.com/Electric/ElectricMeds.htm
I find these interesting because I am an electrical engineer in my non-bottle life[;)]
Hope to add to it as I find more info.
Any info or photos people can send me would be much appreciated.

Really cool info Gunth.....fascinating stuff,...It reminds me of a story I heard in my distant past about someone's great grandpa who was too paranoid to sleep in the room with an empty light socket,...as he felt the electricity would "leak out' and harm him.....(Most of rural america wasn't electrified until sometime in the 20's, in somecases even later.) Matt,

Do you have "The West Electric Cure" bottle? Have you ever seen one? That ad is way to funky - guaranteed to last one year and works for the whole family! Surely it wasn't a liquid...did they think electricity was stored in the bottle and they held it or something?

I'm gonna see if I can google an image of it...very cool! ...and it was a cobalt bottle!

Great info! (...as always [:)] )!!!

Hey Matt -

Great page on the electric meds! I've checked my Maine medical database and have found six or seven electric med products from here in Maine - I'll send you some info on them when I have some time to do so.

Later - Sam

There are probably about a dozen "electric" hair treatment or hair dye bottles too but I tried to stick with just the general medicines.

Although this electric med didn't come in a bottle I'd thought I'd send the ad along. This is from the Giant Oxie Co. of Augusta, ME (1892-1920+). The accompanying ad noted that these plasters worked best when used in conjunction with other Oxie medicinal products.
