Found this on a bank of a creek. The area it was discovered dates back to late 1600's Dutch Settlers. Of course I know it's not from that time frame, most likely Civil War Era. Not rare, but a sweet example.

Very nice! I dug a pontiled one as a kid and still have it...lot of bang for your buck with the Merchant bottles!

I found one in a 1860's pontil privy but it was not pontiled? Bummer. LEON.

I get those around me too. Hinge mold right? I have some but not as nice a shape.
