Dug this (broken) bottle last weekend in a strange trash pit...bottle is embossed "Finck & Hainbach/Providence/R.I." and is embossed on the back "This Bottle Not To Be Sold". Hole also had a broken colored Doylestown. Pennsylvania soda bottle, a broken Comstock & Gove from Boston, and various other out-of-state broken sodas in it...all early 1870's. Strange for Texas for sure! Are these common up in Rhode Island?

Augh, that's a crier! It's a rare RI squat soda. I have a tall blob version, which is the only example known. George Finck and Bernhard Hainbach were only listed together from 1875-1878.

Well believe it or not, I just dug this today in a river! Same exact bottle, no bottom. What are the odds?

Just rediscovered this post, I finally have a whole one! Bought a huge collection of RI blobs, and this fellow was in the mix.
