flea mkt find

Got this bottle at the flea mkt for 1 dollar any info on it would be helpful. It has JK&S W 2274 EMBOSSED ON bottom. Thanks

I have no idea what the bottle looks like but... J K & S ………………… John Kilner & Sons, Wakefield, Yorkshire, or Thornhill Lees, Yorkshire, England. Similar to the marks J K & Co (above) confusion on the actual dates of use continue. Toulouse (Bottle Makers and their Marks) stated “1844 to 1857? but also relates that this same firm name was applied to a glass manufacturer still in business as late as 1928. Dates of usage for this mark are very unclear (to me) and I would propose a very wide possible date range extending from the 1860s into the late 1920s. (Most likely, perhaps 1880-1910). More research certainly needs to be done on this group of companies and the marks they used. Also, see K.B.L.T. and K. B. Ltd. From http://www.glassbottlemarks.com/bottlemarks-3/
