My dad had been digging my backyard for years now because he turned it into sheds and a driveway. He asked me to dig out an area of a couple feet about 8 inches down. He started the job but when i came over to help finish i noticed a bunch of glass in a pile broken. There was glass bottles barried in my yard. I thought it had to be worth something so i told him i would finish. I scrambled up 80 good unbroken bottles. Im really wondering if you think this could be worth any money and how much. What i really want some help on is why and how could i find these bottles that were barried in my yard for ATLEAST 15 years.

well i will let you know that a couple of them look a lot older than 15 years. Theres a couple that might be over a 100 years old in there. Clean em up and post some pics and tell us the embossing[:)]

The realy weird thing about it is that i only dug out aabout 2 foot by 2 foot and a foot deep

that area where the arrows are pointing to is the only place i got those 80 bottles
the rest of the area the bottles were broken because my dad threw them.

You seem to have found an old trash pit or privy. Most of the bottles look too new to be very collectible, yet some of the sodas or cork top whiskies could be good if embossed. The jars in the photo are probably not worth washing. Thanks for posting and Welcome to this great hobby,Doug

Yeah, I agree with Doug. You've gotten into the top of a privy or a trash pit. If you dig deeper in that area there should be more bottles buried. It's hard to tell from your pics what types of bottles you have. For the most part old bottles are pretty common but it's the odd or rare ones that are worth money. Chris

hmm i think my dad cemented over it now but i could be wrong. Is it just a spot that has the bottles or would it be spread throught out my yard? he even dug out part of my yard 20 feet down because our yard is a hill and he wanted to put his cars in there. I asked him if he found bottles while working but he sayes he doesnt think so

After looking at the other pics,in my opinion, only the green one in the back is worth washing up.The rest I would get rid of.You might try digging deeper but I would look for older spots close by if the house dates before 1900.Hate being blunt, just want to be honest.Doug
