German seal wine, historical need help.

Hello!
I was refered to you all by a very nice ebay seller in the hopes that someone here can give me some help. I am not a bottle collecteo and know little but I'm learning fast!

My item is a Wurzburg Burgerspital bocksbeutel encased in decorative iron which prevents me from viewing the bottom. It is a commerorative of sorts (100 year jubilee Wurzburgh to Bavaria) and although the iron work dates it to 1914 it could be older or newer.

I have emailed the Wurzburgh winery for information and have not heard back.

The lip is broken (HORRORS!) but i'm hoping that overall the item has value and this is what I'm trying to determine.

The seam does not extend to the lip. It dissapears right about the point were it starts to curve towards the neck. I cannot dertermine if the seal is applied or part of the bottle itself.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

worzurberg Burgerspital doesnt sound english i found its from Deutschland

it is a very cool- i dont think there common caus i found nothing on it exept ur posts.

I cannot remove it from the iron work without either braking or bending the iron. I've tried to looking into the bottle, from the top, but what I can see does not give me any indication of what's there.

What else can I do to try to see what's on the bottom? See pic of what's on the bottom.

I got it from a local thrift.

I've done alot of research and found one bottle like this (without the iron work) listed in Kovels 1860's for over $500.

Also, I found this bottle featured in a bottle collecting article on the net. It could be the same bottle listed in Kovels. It gives a good picture of what the bottle should look like out of the iron work.

FYI- what I've learned about the shape of this bottle or "bockesbeutel"

[BAWKS-boy-tuhl] A squat, flagon-shaped, green or amber bottle used for quality wine (QbA or QmP) from Germany's franken region. Badisches Frankenland, a wine produced in the northern part of German's baden region, also uses a bocksbeutel. Bock is German for "goat," and it's said that the bottle is patterned after the scrotum of that animal. Others feel that the name is taken from a bag used to carry religious books called a Bockesbeutel in Low German.

This shape is usually associated with wine bottles of Spain but this is not were it originally came from.
