Hello Digswithstick and diggincajun: I have seen a lot of posts about marbles, and I have a couple little books on marbles. I have a very old wooden box with stone marbles in it. I played a lot of marbles back in 1940 and 41. I have some in a box that I don't know much about. I have watched marbles being made at a factory in Illinois, and at a glass factory in Italy. Corning Glass in Corning NY had a tower wher they dropped glass to make marbles and I saw a tower out in the midwest where they formed lead shot. But, I guess I have no knowledge of the objective of empontilling a marble. If you could please advise me on where I could gain some insite into this early method of making and marking marbles in the process of manufacture, I would apprecieate some information.
