Looks like it was for a somewhat local extracts company (based in Portland, ME), and I assume hung on the outside of the building. The buildings where this was found burned around the turn of the 20th century, though I’m not sure on the age of this sign.

I have a Foss extract Bottle. LEON.View attachment 245169
Great little amber bottle! Found plenty of broken and melted glass around the area - mostly clear and aqua - but from the right time period (though there was also a 1970s 7UP ACL in the area as well). Hoping I can find one of their bottles to go with my new sign!

i'd imagine the sign is fairly old as extracts were common / popular a long time ago , they weren't really used much lately
