Spent the day probing, marking some spots. The ground is very hard already, outside of shady or low-lying spots.
Here are some photos of the type of structures that exist. The predominant foundation builder is local limestone. Some of the yards are SO small, they had to locate the pits across the street or build a multi-home sharer.
Digging tomorrow.
If anyone gets here, go downtown and look in the windows of the 1836 Adams drug store. The shelves are lined with all kinds of pontiled stuff, label under glass apothecaries and lots of demijons. I felt like a kid at a candy store, with my nose pressed up to the glass.
