I know this isn't a bottle, but I thought maybe someone might be knowledgeable about stoneware. I picked this jug up while I was home at a flea market/antique mall. It was cheap so I took a chance.

I'm thinking maybe it might be European, but really not sure.

Any info is much appreciated!

thank you

Looks American, 1860 to 1880 to me. Could be CJ& CO C or JCC & CO or some such. Have dealt mostly with the Northeast potters for 40 years, do not know the mark.
Could also be a merchant piece, such as a liquor dealer or grocer or even soda syrup.
Value would be very local to where it was made/used due to the lack of decoration.

thank you NYCFlasks,

I bought it at an antique store/flea market in VA. There was other stoneware around it from all different place, but all were in rough shape.

thank you for your input

Interesting Jim, thank you

did they make pottery you think?

In my search I don't see a lot of jugs/crocks with a monogram symbol, that's why I thought maybe European.
