This is an old Henry & Brown stoneware bottle I cannot locate any information on. Does anyone here have familiarity with the company in question? Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks, luckiest and brokenshovel. I just wondered as I have dug a couple dozen assorted crocks over the years but then again, with this being a 'bottle' forum, perhaps crocks aren't often posted here. If the latter, sorry about that. PS: meant to say crock not bottle.
Hi, Sodasandbeers. Sorry for the confusion. I was posting to three forums when my computer crashed. As well, I was trying to reset my password on this forum when it happened (it isnt a new computer) and thus locked me out of my account so I created another user account.
No-name stoneware bottles are very difficult to date and localize due to lack of identification conventions prevalent at that time, inconsistency in styling from bottle to bottle and from maker to maker, use of different coloring chemicals, and similar shortcomings. But I appreciate your helpful reply.
I dug the Henry&Brown in Halifax. After many months of trying to locate that bottling company's history, I decided to ask other colletors, since someone else may also possess a similar speciman from that company. Thanks again for any helpful reply.
I would contact Phil Culhane or Scott Wallace, the guys who wrote the Canadian Primitive Ginger beer book. If anybody would have info, or know where to find it, they would be the guys.
If you need contact info for them, just drop me a line.
