Hi sha11s. That bottle was originally clear and someone monkeyed around with it and made it that color. Some bottle collectors will take inexpensive soda bottles and stick them under x-ray machines, meat sterilization machines, intensive uv bulbs etc. and the chemicals in the glass react and a color change occurs. The glass of this Hires more than likely contained selenium which turns brown, smokey gray, muddy amber etc. when stuck under x-rays. Currently there are a bunch of these bottles on ebay.

Wow! Thanks for that great info ACLS!!! It did seem odd to me that a bottler would choose that colour to put it's product in.
