When I get a house I am really interested in remodeling a room to about 1900. I think barn wood on the walls, an oak bar, and authentic furniture would really make it feel like you are taking a step back in time. I would have all of my whiskeys flasks and bottles on the wall behind the bar. The only think I am stuck on is the floor. I cannot use carpet because that will look terrible, If I get new hardwood flooring it will be pricey and possibly to modern looking.

Does anyone have any neat ideas that would go good in a room like this?

I've built my entire house out of reclaimed wood. I have used a lot of old beaded board from the early 1900s plus some barn wood.

These are old floor boards.

Oak counter out of early 1900s store turned into a bar........................when I get through working on the room. Have not touched it in years.

How about a Persian rug or 2 on the floor?

In the 1950's I think the color was green, then in the 1960's it was orange, then in the 1970's it was wallpaper, then in the 1980's... [8|]
