I purchased this lot of 5 insulators at a yard sale this past weekend. From left to right: B; HEMINGRAY No10; BROOKFIELD; BROOKFIELD 4; BROOKFIELD NEW YORK. I am not a collector, and I am guessing that each are worth between 1 - 5$ each. Am I correct in this assumption or is there anything here worth more that $10?

Thanks
Tom

Thanks Jim, I wanted to be sure that these are all common before I wasted any time listing on eBay.

Maybe it's just the angle of the picture, but that Brookfield in the front/right of the picture looks a little like a cd 101? If so, not considering the damage, it "worth" more than a few dollars. Regardless, I like the color of the two Brookfield ponies.

Yes, you're spot-on, Chris. That's a CD 101 and that olive color would normally be well over ten dollars (PG says 30-40 but I think that's a bit high, I've seen them sell in the 25-30 area). But the visible dome bruises and wire groove rub marks make it much less appealing.

Damage is a funny thing. In a very rare insulator you can probably still find someone interested because there just aren't many to go around. But an insulator where a mint example would sell for an affordable amount, let's say 100.00 or less -- becomes pretty close to worthless once it's out of the VNM range.

The other Brookfield pony in the back (CD 102) looks like it's a nice green shade, but Brookfield made lots of greens so it's probably a 5-10 dollar piece. Postage rates tend to keep pieces in that range from selling very quickly, I'm afraid.

Chris & Bill, thanks for your input, the 2 Brookfields caught my eye because of their colors. The CD 101 has several bruises and flee bites, unfortunately it suffered a lot of damage. I think I'm going to play it safe and consign them at a local flea market so I don't have to worry about selling them on eBay and having them returned.
