Here is an interesting black glass Dyottville glass works. Ive never seen one of these before but plenty of the whiskey fifths. It is embossed on the shoulder not on the base. What are your thoughts on age and distribution? Who has seen one of these before?

Hella cool, wonder if it was a Patant mineral water? I'd want to think it pre dates the whiskey/wine cylinders, but that would almost surely put a pontil on it... Interesting the city and the words "glass works" are not on it... Maybe it was a private mold and The embossing isn't related to the glass works?

Not entirely sure, but I think that we dug frags of that bottle here in CA. It's been a while, but that looks familiar to me. Many Dyottville bottles ended up out here during the early Gold Rush years of 1848-54.

Gotta be a pretty scarce bottle.
I believe there was one on eBay a few moths ago in the buy it now section, listed by the bottle dealer over there in Hummelstown, PA. It had a large crack and was posted there for quite some time. Last time I saw it, I think the price had been dropped to about $69.
Not sure it was exactly like yours, because I think it might have said Dyottville Glass Works instead of just Dyottville??
I believe Tod von Mechow would be the best source for info on your bottle.
Nice find !!
