Hi all
Suppose I better give you a bit of an insight in who you’ve let in now!
My name is Mike, and Tuppence is my dog , an English Bulldog with the meanest kiss in the business !!
Just lately I’ve been surfing, and came across some nice bottle sites, this one among them.
Haven’t done anything about this hobby for over 25 years now, but seeing and reading about
bottles and digging, made my bloodpressure rise again. I used to dig bottles in the late sixties early seventies, whilst living in a small village in Gloucestershire UK. Mid seventies my family and I emigrated to S.Africa, Benoni, where lo and behold, my son found a bottle dump right across the road from our house less than 50 yards away !! Beginning of the eighties we returned to Holland where bottle digging is virtually unheard of, and that’s where the hobby was laid to rest. So now it is time to start unpacking all my boxes again. Not that it is always necessary to dig, just a few months ago, on a junkmarket in France, picked up a nice cobalt tea-kettle ink for 2€, I see somewhere that a similar one is going for in excess of $500 !! So there’s still bottles to be found !! My interests cover a wide range, as I’ve never specialised. Should say we really, as one of my sons has always been part of the digging team.
Will in due course put some of my favourite pieces on show.
Look forward to getting to know some of you some better !!
