I found this sign in the Auglaize river the other day. It was maybe a mile or so down from the current Knights of Columbus hall. I am not ture if that is where it was put in the river though. The river makes a couple sharp 90s before reaching this area. I would have thought it would have became hung up before reaching that point. One can never tell with things caught in the current though. I have always heard that there is no such thing as a stupid question, so here it is. Could this sign be porcelain coated, it is large, 42", and it is flexible. I have always thought that porcelain signs were rigid, as the porcelain would crack if they were not. It has been in the water for awhile but shows little rust. The back and a few areas where the coating is missing show rusting. I guess I could take it to a local antique dealer for information. Thanks for the input and your time people, have a great one all.

It's hard to tell from just a photo, but the typical porcelain sign isn't very flexible -- and if I came across one that had thin enough metal to flex, I would be careful NOT to let it flex.

Later signs are painted steel or aluminum. From your description I'd guess that's what you have.

It might not have come from the K of C hall nearby. Often as you're entering a town you'll see a sign or billboard with lots of community service signs like K of C, Lions, FOE, Masons, etc. along with the "Welcome to [town name]".

I'm more familiar with telephone/telegraph signs, so I have no idea of value on this one.
