There is a tool called a "see snake" It's the size of a hair dryer and has a probe about a foot or two long with a light and camera that allows you to see in tight areas or inside walls, etc. It would fit right into the opening of that bottle and allow you to see if there is any ebossing, I'm not sure how hard it is to see embossing from the backside of the glass, never noticed. If you know anyone in the maintenance field they may have one. Grainger sells them. I don't know where your at but if you were in the Sacramento area I'd let you bring it here and use mine.

I also think that the wicker is not original to it. I would remove it and let the light shine through that old glass.

Well, YOU, can't borrow it![sm=lol.gif]

Here in my shop we refer to it as the anal probe[sm=lol.gif] Never actually tried it for that though! I did come into the shop one day to see my coworker giving himself a dental exam.

Here's a skin graft I just performed last week on an 18" carboy. Check out the unusual pontil on this beast.

And here's the pontil. Looks like two bars. It weighs a ton. I have a friend that owns a winery in Bordeaux, you should see some of the carboys he'll be sending me.

OK,
Since we are on the subject, who can tell me the difference between a wicker basket and a wicker box?
Answer is below, but don't peek (yet).

A wicker basket is the woven decorative piece that many people place dried flowers and other lovely items in, then display it in the center of their table.
Wicker box is what Elmer Fudd wants to do to Madonna.
