I was wondering if anyone had any info on this little flint med. I am pretty sure it's English so maybe our friends from across the pond could help me out. Here is the embossing:
Congreve's
Celebrated balsamic
Elixir
For cough's Hooping cough & Asthma

Yes it's English. As Matt said, the product goes way back (started around 1830, give or take a year or two). It was still available into the 1920s.

A classic bottle: at least 5 sizes known with the same embossing as yours, ranging from around 2.5" tall to around 9". The very large ones seems to be late (after 1900). Pontilled examples more or less identical with smooth base, the design didn't really change from 1830 to until about 1910 or even later, when the two or three smallest sizes became square rather than rectangular, and the word 'consumption' was added to the embossing.

Not hard not find, except for pontilled examples. Some of the really early ones have huge flared lips.
