I have one from South Hampton, L.I. and the writing is in cursef.. I'll have to dig it out. Its pretty ratty though. It is embossed J. or G. something or another. If you said the name I would know it. Are they any good? Thanks, Jake
If it is any good depends on what it says. Even though it is a bit ratty, might still be something. There is a big farm, Schwenks I think is the spelling, those are a dime a dozen, except for the ones with scenes on them, those will bring about 15 bucks. Another is Kahn, but that one might say North Sea on it, can not recall.
When you find it, post the name, that will tell us everything.
thanks! Mark
Hi all, sorry to be a little slow in responding, was away on holiday, and then there was Irene...........
For soda bottle, exactly what does it say? Gillman is a common name on milks from that area, but some are less common than others.
I have seen the North Sea bottle, if it is the pyro example, it is very pretty!
I know this is a blast from the past, but I have 4 milks from Long Island. Small collection, but I like them. Any comments or history on them is welcome!
Large quart size is a A.A. Tuthill from Quoque, Long Island.
next to it is a half pint Brush's Dairy from Huntington, New York.
Next is a half pint Cove Side Dairy from Sag Harbour, LI.
The Tuthill bottle is a scarce one, if it is for sale I would be interested.
The others are all more or less common in this area, date from the 30's and 40's. Current values in the 20 dollar a pop range.
I have a variety of long island milks from queens locations (long island back then), cant give those up, if you would have posted a few weeks earlier I would have gotten you my doubles, but hose sold already [>:]
