I'm bidding on a Garrett GTA 350 on ebay for $75.00 is that a good deal? It is supposed to be new. Are they good detectors? I've never owned one before so I wouldn't know. I heard you can easily get your money back if you sell the old coins and things you find anybody know? Thanks!

Bryan, I am an avid metal detectorist, have been for about a year now. The Garrett GTA350 is an older model, but still a very good detector, especially for a beginner. You can be successfull with it, but you need to get a manual for it and READ IT.

I use a Garrett ACE250 myself, and have had a lot of success in finding coins, both old, and pocket change. I have also found several nice jewelry pieces this summer (2 sterling rings and 2 gold rings with diamonds), as well as several interesting relics. I also use it when hunting in wooded areas for old dump sites, and it has helped produce a few nice bottle finds.

Good luck with your detector, and if I can ever be of any help, feel free to email me.
