I picked this bottle up some time ago at a shop and I have never found out anything about it. Who knows about it's value, company history, etc?? I've never seen one before and can only assume it was a cosmetic product.

Embossed "MYKRANTZ'S / CREAM OF BENZOIN / AND WITCH HAZEL " Base is embosssed with " W.T. CO. / M / U.S.A."

5 x 2-1/8 x 1 3/8" . Three blank panels, chamfered edges all around. Tooled lip.

Let's see what we can find out.

Hey Paul,

Nice one, sir. I found many references to ads in a pay newspaper site.

Here's a possibility:

From.

There was also a Mykrantz pharmacy in Brooklyn, New York. I'm still looking around...

Hey, that is a neat MG bottle, as are the others Surf showed. Surf, you 'da MAN.

It sounds, sometimes, that I collect eveything, which is partially true, but we have a small but nice collection of Milk Glass toiletry type bottles, so that one would fit nicely in that group if it were available. It's one of those things I don't go out of my way to look for but pick up ones we don't have when the opportunity arises.

That one is one we've never seen.

Very nice milk glass medicine! Certainly rare since I've never heard of it before. I think Joethecrow would like this one.

Thanks for the photos Surf...Love the interior pharmacy shot. What I'd give to go back in time and walk into an old shop like that.

I wonder if the New York and Ohio Mykrantzs are related?

Thanks for the replys, hope to learn more.

Hey Paul,

Here's a photo of Frank Mykrantz >>> @ Columbus Library.

They had a chain of at least 7 stores in the early years of the 20th Century. I'm thinking they were amongst the first pharmacy chains.

"Mykrantz Pharmacy, The, 23 S High
Mykrantz Pharmacy, The, Miller Av & Main
Mykrantz Pharmacy, The, Poplar Av & N High
Mvkrantz Pharmacy, The, 9th Av & N High
Mykrantz Pharmacy, The, Main & High
Mykrantz Pharmacy, The, Mt Vernon Av & 20th" 1916 Druggists Era Directory.

A green druggist bottle Sold well in 2011.

You were right about the New York connection, though it appears Frank moved from New York.

"A few swallows of Mykrantz's delicious, cold and sparkling soda water on a sultry day will open your eyes to the difference in a high grade, pure fruit juice flavoring and that made by artificial processes. Mykrantz's choice soda water is a boon to the thirsty on a hot day like this.-- Mykrantz Columbus" Tobbaconist, 1910.

Thanks for the info, that's quite the history behind that family.
