It looks like some other forum members found some good pieces at the Somers, CT show yesterday. I wasn`t able to find any Bixby stuff, but I did find 4 nice CT made bottles to add to my shelves. Here are 2 Westford demijohns, the first is a scarce olive amber color for this mold, which is a 3 piece mold and stands 11 1/2" tall. the big one is also Westford, and is one I`ve been looking a long time for. It stands 19" tall, is the typical Westford red amber, and was made in a 2 piece mold. It must have taken quite a lot of breath to blow this one by hand!

Here`s a shot of the bases, no pontils on these.

Here`s two more I picked up there. The Traveller`s Companion is from Westford, but in a scarce olive amber color. The whiskey is a 2 piece mold from Willington in a great forest green color, full of bubbles, and very crude! That one has a bare iron pontil, like the ones on some of the dark olive green Brown sodas that are said to have been blown there. I love the color in this one!

Haha, nice lip on that travelers! Looks like it's going to fall off... I'm looking for one right now... In the old amber or red amber color. Way jealous on that cylinder... It's a beauty. I've had a few of those smaller westford demi's, all in red amber though... Very nice finds, your making me a little home sick...

That`s a nice looking flask, Bottle_head. I try to stay away from getting too many flasks, I like the utilities better, mainly because my wallet likes them better. It`s tough when there`s so many good flasks there, and I`m happy to see that you picked a nice one!
Tique710, there can`t be too many CT pieces turning up way over on the other side of the country for you. One thing I liked about this Traveler`s Companion was the crooked lip, one side is straight up and down, while the other side is almost a 45 degree angle, of course the color hooked me on it too. Maybe this lip was an experimental one to make it easier for travelers on horseback to drink from it without spilling any![8|]
I remember going to an estate auction many years ago just up the road from where the Westford Glassworks was, I guess that the guy who lived there was a bottle collector, but he just squirreled everything away. There was a table set up with I think it was 33 of these Traveler`s Companions there in amber. I though for sure that I would be able to get a deal on one once the dealers bought what they wanted. Nope, they all went for either the going price or more for each one. It was something seeing all those flasks sitting there. Someday you`ll get one, they do turn up. If you`d like I can see if I can find one for you, just send me a PM and tell me what you`d want to spend on one and I`ll see what I can dig up for you, or I can send you the contact info for someone who I find has one.

Man Imagine all those travelers selling like that, did he have any other bottles or just those? I have had and still have permission to dig the willington site, I've found some great shards there but mostly slag glass, which I love... I want to make something with it someday... I actually had two travelers and sold them both, had a nice ravina travelers too with an iron pontil, also sold it... Always really liked them. I decided a travelers would be one of my first additions to my new collection, but I am holding out to pick one up on the cheap end! I would love to see anything that came up though, thanks Bill, and thanks for sharing.
