Congratulations on your first privvy. Get used to the slicks their part of digging and sometimes a sign other outhouses in the yard were used as dumps.

A picture of some of the finds. I never want to see another slick amber beer again! [:'(]

Looks like you have found a good teacher who is showing you the Correct way to do it. Like how you two kept the yard clean, the sod neat and even repaired the pipe you damaged. THAT is how you will get the good stuff... reputation and good karma!
Get used to seeing a hundred of the same bottles. Just like people today they all had the drinks and things that they used A LOT of. If I NEVER dug another Bromo Seltzer or Wiedemenn beer it would not hurt my feelings a bit! LOL Seeing big air pockets is also something else that you will see here and there. I think it happens because of a larger biodegradable item that has since withered away. However it happens, it is always a pain to see since it almost guarantees you will need extra items for fill.
Be careful cleaning the bottle with the label. Let it DRY out as much as possible. Do NOT get it wet again! Use a damp cloth to clean the glass off the best that you can and a DRY toothbrush will dust some of the dirt off the paper itself... if you are careful.
Throwing the Spade up to you kid... you done good!!!

Here's some of the keepers. Tom didn't want much, although we found the frame to an old bike, which he kept... Some good stuff, considering it was my first privy dig! Not a total bust.

Way to dig Connor,

Just another milestone in the life of a young digger. Looks like you have an able cohort. Looking forward to seeing the post soak photos, and hearing the rest of the story.

Does the home predate either of Grover Cleveland's terms?

Well, since y'all asked... [:D] Without further ado, here's the stuff. I've got a case of these, all the same Iroquois Springs bottles... This picture doesn't count the ones on the table picture. In the garage they will stay, for now...

These are the beers we dug almost a hundred of. None had any remnant of a label on them. I kept one for representation, this one's a nice honey orange color.

I swear, it really is that color, it's not just the lighting... [&:] They all had this on the base.
