Wow, thats a lot of blob bottles, BlobbottleBob. We dont get any of those wide blob top bottles up here in Maine. Hardly any hutches either. Glad you got out to dive, but I'm sure you could get one more dive in before the year ends, you have a full tank of air after all :]

Thanks Bram,
I could continue diving. I have air and I wasn't hurting from the cold BUT I have been putting things off like cleaning the garage, winterizing, organizing bottles, etc . . . That I have promised to start working on after one last trip. Well, that was the last trip. I can read your posts for awhile (I hope) for a fix until you give it up.

As far as the blobs go, (and I"m not complaining mind you) but I would gladly swap some hutches for some of that gorgeous early stuff you get. I have found in 14 years of bottles diving something less than than 1/2 dozen pontils whole. They just don't come out very often. But, you're right, I have hauled in hundreds of hutches, and crowns, and loop seal beers, etc . . .

This is what the eagle looked like when it was hunting those ducks. It didn't have that soaring swoop you associate with it when you see the images of the eagle grabbing a salmon out of the water. Rather, it hovered and dropped.

Nice post, Bob. I always enjoy your diving stories. I'm a soda and beer guy, so it's always interesting to see those cool Wisconsin sodas that you bring up from the depths. ~Jim

This might be the kind of duck he was after. I'm not positive but it wa a small black little critter - that gathers by the hundreds (or thousands) in the fall and swims underwater.

I'm not actually sure that was it. The more I think about it, the less I remember a white bill. Plus, the little guys out there were very low in the water. The kind of bird that swims down for fish. Like a loon, in the low water position, but smaller, less colorful, and in giant flocks. You are right that this picture is a coot. I'm just doubting that I got it right now.

I hate it when I do the last dive of the season. Plan on doing one or two more dives Thanksgiving weekend and that'll be it until Spring 2012.

Glad to read you got the car unlocked. I'm paranoid about doing the same thing. Always checking and re-checking that I have the keys.
