Every wonder what's up with these little guys?? Pretty common, why the round bottom?, what did they contain?...

Took me a while to figure out what these were, but a few years ago I was digging in a flooded dump in the UK, and found several that still had the remains of the wicker / grass cover around them. I think you're right .....
