Need ID help with old jug

My digging partner found this old jug in an area where we've been digging colonial to CW era stuff. As I recall, its about 14" tall, and has a "2" etched on it as shown. Appreciate any help in dating this piece. Thanks from a first time poster.

It is very difficult to date an unmarked stoneware jug. This one wouldn't be any later than the 1860s, but is likely to be even earlier. Nice find!
