Finally got to the Craigslist advertised bottle sale in the Sacramento area on Friday. Didn't find anything nearly as exciting as Jen and Aaron's great soda bottle, but was able to double my number of broken pontils. Even talked on the phone to our forum member ktbi for the seller, only to tell Ron that most of the bottles left were either slicks or commons.

As Mike had predicted everything was picked over, but also found out that an established area collector was able to preview the collection. I would love to see the local bottles he added to his collection...lucky guy!

So here are my new old bottles mostly dug in the Gold Country. They are cruddy with a few cracks and dings but I am delighted...and that's what counts!

Hmm a J. Churchill & Son Yreka, Cal. druggist, not bad...I cannot believe anyone came across any good or great bottles on craigslist. Truly amazing. I've searched good ol' Craig and his list for years for bottles and have found exactly nothing. Guess I'm stuck with ebay.

I have had two god scores off of craigslist. One is a Austin Texas saloon flask, and the other was a cobalt hobo medicine from Beaumont. The good bottles are few and far between, but I get lucky every once in a while. Nice bottles by the way. I love the way the base is shaped on the pontiled spice bottle.

I'm always watching Craigslist for bottles.
It has gotten to the point where I'll ask for pictures (either text or email) or get good details before driving more than 20 miles. Most times the sellers never even reply!
There are also a handful of collectors/dealers advertising to BUY old bottles; I always wonder what kind of replies they get.
