I think the mold vent dots common to some stoddard bottlles can be found on several other glass house's stuff.
As I understood it, the dots were usually somewhat centered...I like the repair explanation....seems logical to me..

Phil, New London makes good sense. I think I rembember seeing a flask from there in a color close to this. New York would certainly be a possibility,also.. I know the raised mold vents are associated with Stoddard, but this really looks to be a repair as Plumb stated. It actually sits on the "dot",which makes level. I will try to post some pics of it later. I would enjoy seeing a picture of yours Phil..Thanks for the input from everyone.

As far as this being Stoddard, I don't think they produced any pure greens but I think Keene did.. Could you imagine a Gibbs Bone Liniment or a Swett's Panacea in bright green. Alright,Alright, I'm awake now![:D]

Here is a picture that illustrates the point Plumbata made. It sits perfectly level.

This is the one. We also dug a Dr. Jayne's Tonic Vermifuge with a flared lip, this stubby and a pontiled barrel mustard from France. I was disappointed not to get the Jayne's. Now 17 years later, I'm glad I got the utilities.

Believe it or not there ARE some pure green Stoddard made bottles - in fact, I have seen a number of 'em, including double eagles in various sizes, Kimballs, N. Woods, Farleys, etc. With that said, pure green is not a typical color that was produced at any of the four Stoddard glass factories. This is why it is in my opinion difficult to make attributions on glass color alone, as it is akin to ascribing the origin of a redware object on glaze qualities alone where it is actually the method of manufacture that is an objects most telling characteristic.

Oh, and yes, the anomaly in question is without doubt a mold mark. I cannot offer any insight as to its intended utility other than to say it is not a happenstance occurrence but rather a mark of considered consequence.

Come to think of it, I have seen New London flasks in the color of yours, Doug. The texture of the glass would be unusual for Baltimore.

To my eye the bottle is a little too early to be a New London made piece. Heck, it could be Keene, Stoddard, Willington, NYS or in fact made almost anywhere in the US between 1830 and 1850. The reality is that unless shards are dug from a site with the same mold markings there's no way to positively attribute this BEAUTIFUL bottle to a specific mid 19th century glass house. Just my two cents...
