I purchased this milk bottle from a woman whose mother had died. It cost me $2.75+shipping & came with the separator spoon. It's about 9 1/2 in. tall & has no chips, cracks or scratches of any kind. The front says Chas L Woodland (in beautiful script) Watertown & registered. The back reads: Mass. T Seal, one quart liquid, W, MTC The bottom reads: E 47

I do know that the Woodland Dairy is located outside of Boston & Watertown has been around since the 1700's, but I haven't found much else about this particular bottle.

What could it's value be??? I'd also like any info. about the dairy, so that I can acquire more of them.

~Thanks

Hi Mom [8D]

Welcome to the A-BN, and thanks for showing your Creamtop.

"For many years Watertown was the home of two dairies: the Andrews Milk Company and the Woodland Dairy. The Woodland Dairy was located on Waverley Avenue where Woodland Towers now stands, and the Andrews Milk Co. was at 43 Franklin Street near Arsenal Street...

The milk wagons of the Woodland Dairy, with their horses and drivers, are pictured in “Crossroads on the Charles,†From.

From.

"Founded by Charles Woodland in 1919, Woodland Dairy soon became the area's leading milk
dealer, with a bottling plant on Waverly Avenue. In it's heyday, Wpoodland Dairy's 55 trucks
delivered 19,000 quarts of milk each day to customers in 16 communities. Neighborhood
children also enjoyed the dairy's ice-cream shop. The Woodland Towers complex, home to
senior citizens, now stands at the dairy's former location." From.

Thanks for the info.
I really do love this bottle. I'm still wondering if it has any value??? Not that I would sell it, but I have only bought a few milk bottles & I'm beginning to wonder if any of them have any value at all.
~thanks again

I'd have to say that since it spent a week on E_bay and the only other bid besides yours was $2.50 that you probably paid what it was worth, but I would think it might bring $10 or so if you found the right local person from that area who wanted one...
