I found this bottle while i was out taking pictures of some Toms in a field.....im thinking this is more of a food type jar but i very well could be wrong~! Can anyone tell me more about this bottle/jar. Its seems to have the lip put onto it after it was made, and on the bottom of the bottle it has the letter M........

Hi Matt3609, That is a nice jar. Obviously the finish was either applied or folded down from the cut off neck glass. I would like to see a picture of the bottom, because it is a mystery as to how they held the bottle while the neck was tooled. RED Matthews

Probably held the bottle with a snapcase Red.... Joe

You have an English chow chow bottle (chow chow is a relish made from assorted vegetables). These were made from the early 1870's to the mid 1910's.
