Picked this up a few days ago and was wondering if anyone had any good info on it. It looks like it had a gold leaf pattern on it at one time but it was worn off long ago.....
That is kinda why I put it on here because I really have no experience with these types of bottles. Even trying to put an age on it is hard for me, I could probably narrow it down to about 1820 to 1860 (that was a joke)
Below and as pictured on page 351, plate 433, figure 433_2, in my soon to be written book MILK GLASS BOTTLES FOR DUMMIES or FOR THOSE WHO THINK MILK GLASS BOTTLES HAVE NO VALUE, is a bonafide 1860's Sandwich Glass Cologne in fiery opalescent complete with solid stopper. This example was purchased in a small antique shop in Stockton MASS. The bottle came with a great story to go with it and as is with most stories, they're not true.
OK enough about me, what about your bottle? That Sir, would make yours one as well...guilt by association or by resemblance being the case here. I am sorry about the color of yours though, perhaps you can have Cyberdigger paint it a nice shade of white? Just kidding, he doesn't paint bottles...LOL Seriously, that's a relatively scarce color in that form to come by. Gary
