I have had this pair of cordial glasses for years and I know very little about them. If anyone has any information about these, I would appreciate hearing about it. Thanx in advance.

They stand 3 1/2" tall and appear to have been made in five (5) pieces; the 1 3/4" body which is detailed with 11 fluted swirls to the right, the decorative 1/2" ball, the 5/16"stem and the decorative gather with 11 flutes which was used to attach the stem to the 1 3/4" diameter applied foot. Additionally there is an unpolished pontil scar.
One would think that they would have ground down or re-fired the pontil after taking all of the time to assemble these pieces. These cordials are incredibly crude, so crude that there is a hole which I would attribute to the manufacturing process. Perhaps the earliest dribble glass on record?

I will post some additional pics of the pieces, perhaps that might shed some light. Thanx again.

Note the hole in the glass, it is not post manufacture damage!

Milkglassbottles these may be your most valuable pieces of glass in your collection. They are flint glass in manufacture and are American no doubt due to their crudity. The type of style of knop and ballast decor on the pedastal's points toward a 1775 to 1790 time period of making. These glasses stand a good chance of reason as to being manufactured at Amelungs New Bremen glass works because of the orange tinge of color in the glass.Another possible place of manufacture would be Glassboro New Jersey, at the Heston and Carpenter glass works. Those works were noted as producing some of the finest flint glass in the colonys.Congradulations in having these in your collection.I have about 50 of these glasses some in matching sets others such as early wine glasses only in singles.

WOW, just like The Antiques Road Show but I didn't have to leave my living room!

I acquired these about 20 years ago, around the time that I was gifted that Seal Bottle....I always thought they complimented each other.

Regarding their monetary value, I guess I didn't overpay for them then. I always thought $20.00 was a bit stiff for two glasses that didn't stand up straight, not to mention one with a hole in it!

Thanx, Gary

PS. I will overlook that comment about the value of my Milk Glass bottles.
