Hi
This is the first time I have posted on this forum. I particularly like the pics of all the real early bottles.
I have been lucky in that there is a 1840s station near to my place that is on a creek and I have recovered a few early pontilled small essence type bottles that i reckon are great.
I presume they probably originated from the U.K. The location I recovered them would have been a hundred miles or more from any shops etc (in the 1840s) where they would have been sold, so they would have been on a remarkable journey! U.K to Australia then a rough dray or cart ride over a hundred miles or so of rough country, remarkable not to be broken.
I will try to post a pic
cheers Glenn

Hi Glenn and welcome to the forum. Very nice bottle! It is amazing how some of these fragile artifacts have withstood the test of time and elements. Every time I dig one up, (even the most common of bottles), I get a head rush thinking about its history, how it got there, and what hand put it there! Happy diggin, Kelley
