Found this today in the privy dig.....Any idea what it is and if I should keep it or toss it? I found a few of these but I think that were clear and or empty. Thanks for solving so many of my dig mysteries....I'm enjoying learning. farmgal

Hey Kate, You only missed vacume tubes by a few years. They were from the era of black and white TVs. When everything had to warm up and if you bumped it to hard one of the tubes would burn out and the TV/Radio Repair Man would come out and fis it. If you have chillins show it to them and tell them computers whith those in them took up whole rooms. [:)]

There was a whole era of vacuum radios before TV was even invented. That was back when you had to have an imagination since there werent any pictures.
Most people fixed thier own radios just by replacing tubes. You could often tap on the tubes to determine which tube was bad (the earliest radios only had one tube).
I can imaging a lot of those bad tubes ended up down the privy.
