"HOME RULE", and a design with an Irish harp in it! I've loved these ever since I saw a post on here where someone dug one. They are some sort of pro-Irish thing, as Ireland was owned by Britain at the time. I'm almost entirely of Irish descent, so I particularly love it for that reason!
...And that's about it. Not a bad dig to end the year with!
I recently found a lid with that same sort of texturing on it, mine has a building in it, and looks as though it used to be painted. I wonder what the story is.
Thanks Henry! If there's one good thing about this dump, it's that at the bottle layer, everything's soaking wet and covered in rust, which doesn't sound fun, but if you're a glass bottle it is. The dry ash eats away at glass, but rust leaves it alone. So the bottles usually come out clean, as long as they were in the bottle layer.
Not bad....I like the Pond's extract bottle because they were amongst the first bottles I dug back when...I remember getting all excited about the date on the bottom! [] Hey,...pre internet,..I was 12 years old. The pipe is pretty cool and so is anything from Humphrey....Glad you had a nice day to dig.
Very interesting Connor. I have three variants like yours but of the Zimmerman company out of New Brunswick... With the similar placing of the 'registered' and 'this bottle not to be sold.'. I wonder if the placement of these words can also provide some sort of "timeline" as to which ones were made first and approx which years.
A Bromo! You NEVER see those. I bet it's worth a mint! []
Seriously, Connor, even if that's a mediocre dig, you still are a pretty lucky mediocre digger. If you ever want to head up towards Valley Forge Area, you could be my good luck charm. My husband and kids get pretty bored by my digging antics. [&:]
As for the butter dish, I wonder if it had a cup to go on top of it. People used to use stoneware butter keepers before they put butter in the fridge. We have one, and it works great. It keeps the butter soft (I hate it when butter rips my bread) and doesn't spoil.
