It kept on raining steady throughout our dig,...and this pic says it all,[:D]...by the time we called it, we were having mud slides and cave offs every few minutes...The creek was picking up velocity too. Here's Fred with a strapside flask (slug plate) that he dug...

A small witch hazel bush came loose from the muddy bank and we were trying to watch the root ball for bottles...Here's a small ink that came out that way.... we were lucky to see it in the ooze.

We didn't find a major amount of bottles, but as it was nearing time to leave we hit a promising area, and will probably go back and mine that soon,...all in all we spent about three hours testing our rain gear...[:)] Fred dug two clay pipes, the poison his beer bottle and a flask...also a small med,..I found the small ink and some other assorted smalls, including a childs plate which is kinda cool (and still soaking) a wyeth dose cup, and I can't remember what all else, but we sure had fun...Also had two encounters with some of the "locals" who both asked us if we had "business" up in these woods. (The dumps are near a small, but nearly defunct community in the woods that used to be oriented on the old narrow gauge railroad.) The first was a little old lady with steel in her voice,[:D]...I politely explained our business and she was cool. The second was a good old boy in his truck that I once bought a motorcycle from and when he recognized me he was cool too...Fred was pretty smooth w/ him too...By the time he pulled away he was grinning...(and so were we.) that's about it, so thanks for sharing our day...We hope to find more in our 'spot', so stay tuned...

humid? or foggy?

I'd say it was like steam or fog Bram,.... It wasn't exactly warm out, but not cold either,...probably like around the high 40's. LoL,....we about sprouted gills! Water was dripping off every surface!Gordon,... Fred at one point was laying on his stomach, digging back under a bank.[:)] On the way home we sat on garbage bags in Fred's van and destroyed two white tee shirts cleaning our hands, glasses and camera. Fred was muddy as h*ll,...I was almost as muddy but from the waist down. We had fun! (one last weird note,...as secluded as this spot is, even though the water was pretty loud, Fred and I both thought we heard other voices.)[8|]
