Got a call this am from a digging buddy.. Hey it's rainin and we got a 30 footer to dig.. HAS TO BE TOADY!! Are you in??? On a construction site that they have ripped down the first 8 feet.. Quicky clear my work schedule.. and off the the city... Meet up @ 10:30 @ the site.. Set up in the pouring rain.. over the hole tri pod. rope buckets etc.. Was right up against the side of a building.. So we had a little shileding from the weather.. The top 8 feet or the holw is ripped down.. start to dig.. the hole is filled with klinker ash.. Bad sign.. then the other guys say yeah we dug the mate to it right over there yesterday.. Only a historical flask and some TOC stuff... Hmmm Are we crazy...

The rain lets up were down 8 feet and start to hit water.. bail dig bail dig.. more n more klinker ash.. we keep sayin dig it to the bottom... I exclaim rainy day digs always produce killer glass!! I get the now you did it it's gonna be empty.. Dig bail dig bail!! down 15 feet.. start to hit some black gooey clay... water subsides.. drop down a probe and push it slowly down thru a puddle in the one side... out bubbles a gieser of gas.. and stink !!! and the statment theres glass down there!!!

Dig another 3 feet... glassss!! out pops a med dated 1865.. and the some paneled blob tops.. then we get a soda!! E roussel in green Open pontil... Woowhoo!!!!! then a kensington glass works open pontil in green.. Yeah baby!! some broken sodas .. some puff pontils etc etc.. then a big flat thick planks shows it self... we pull it up and out .. Figure it must be the plank they used to clean to here with.. and therea couple of feet of layer under it.. All in gooey black as nite poop... almost 6 pm now!! we pull some black glass patenet sodas.. a stone beer.. some patterned pontiled mini vasees.. a red ware chamber pot a mocah striped chamber pot!! a ab durand open pontil med with a wicked single tapper top!! A nd a huge tub of shards of cups pictures etc that can be put together!! As well a a few handless cups..

But the end has to come as we hit the kick out brick.. drop in the ladder .. was some of the better stuff off on the puddle and do the picks!!!

A great day no doubt.. In the rain none the less.. A list of the better stuff

Open pontil e roussel in green 3 light blue roussel pontil doyottville glass works all broken

kensington glass works open pontil a b durand open pontil med med sizded aqua..

3 twitchell hat tope smooth base one twitcheel stone beer chipped!!

Sorry no pics from the dig as it was rainin way to much to get the camera out and it we were a huge mucky black mess!!

My picks from the pile!!
