Ruby red bottles

Was told of someone that claims to have a bunch of ruby red bottles. Possibly meds from the description.

Any ideas?

Back in the day, the only way to make red glass was by adding gold in some form to the glass batch. Later on, a complex process using copper oxide was developed. Either way, red glass was expensive and difficult to produce. I doubt highly that it would have been used for an everyday item such as a medicine bottle. Sounds like possibly some decorative repros from the 1970s. I used to have a ruby red Fish's bitters made by Wheaton. Looked nice in the window!

I cant think of any "red" medicines made in the 19th century other than reddish puce or reddish amber.

I have one ruby one. It is a pyrex drug bottle. Not very old and probably still made. The glass is not red but was coated.

There were possibly some 20th century red reagent or pharma bottles made to hold certain photoreactive compounds. Dont know much about them

Only red glass I have ever seen is tableware, Anchor Hockings and the like...

What was the description? Royal Ruby made the Schlitz bottles. The qts don't go for much but the other sizes do pretty well.
