I just received an email notification reminding me of the next Schmidt Coca Cola auction that will be held in Elizabethtown, Kentucky on September 15, 2012. 585 items are listed which are some of the best Coca Cola collectibles available anywhere.

Check it out here ...

The item below is from the auction listing and is a 9 foot tall 1953 tin sign with an estimated value of $400 to $800

Speaking of Coca Cola ...

About a year ago I submitted a typed letter to the company regarding a television commercial idea I had. I received a courteous reply from them about a month later, but unfortunately was informed the Coca Cola Company no longer accepts such suggestions due to a company policy which states they have their own department for such things.

My idea was as follows ...

The commercial starts out in black and white and depicts a 1950s scene where an old clunker of a car pulls into an isolated gas station in the middle of the desert. Which then shows the driver get out of his car and walk up to an outside soda pop cooler where he selects a bottle of Pepsi Cola from the dispenser. And then at that very moment another car, a Corvette, pulls up and the driver gets out like the previous one, who is still standing there sipping on his Pepsi, but instead of selecting a Pepsi, the Corvette driver selects a bottle of Coca Cola which he takes with him and returns to his Corvette. He pulls out of the gas station, leaving the Pepsi guy standing there with a puzzled look on his face, and then the second the Corvette guy puts the Coca Cola to his lips to take a drink the commercial changes to full color and shows the Corvette driving down the two-lane highway into the glorious sunset.

Which is when my catch phrase appears on the screen and states ...

"Why Settle For Black and White When You Can Enjoy Life in Living Cola?"

~*~

So if you ever see a commercial like this for Coca Cola, you'll know they stole the idea from me! [sm=thumbup.gif]

Here's the letter I received from the Coca Cola Company in response to my TV commercial idea, which I was mistaken about as being "about a year ago." It was actually in 2007. Man-o-man! What's happening with my memory? (Lol)

Speaking of Coca Cola again ...

How'z about this Birmingham, Alabama Hutchinson bottle that's currently on ebay with a starting bid of 'only' $3,999.00? But with 'zero' bids!

Here's a direct link to a Birmingham hutch that is listed on the Schmidt auction with an estimated value of $1,000 to $1,600. If I were in the market for one, I think I'd much rather try for the Schmidt example, especially considering the ebay bottle starts at $3,999.00!
