I went over to Kenton to wade the Scioto again today. We have not had a measurable rain for 2 weeks now. The river is running very low, stained, but clear enough. I started out in town and waded upstream for about a mile. I found nothing of real interest except a 1/2 pint milk not embossed. I waded back to the starting point and went downstream a mile or so. I once again found nothing of real interest except another 1/2 pint milk. This one is embossed CEDAR LAWN DAIRY, will have to check if its local. When I say nothing of interest, I mean nothing whole. This river is full of worn ACLs, broken embossed sodas, cases of bud light and old blatz bottles. I headed back to my truck so I could check a bridge above town. I found the bridge and parked off the road and headed to the bridge. I first took a peak over the side to get an idea of how deep it might be. It looked to be very shallow and I spotted a couple bottles lying below. Though the river runs slow through town, it is even slower here. The bottom is mainly sand/gravel with soft ball size rocks here and there. The bottle survival rate is very high in this area, which is good and bad. It would be great if they were all good ones. The bad is most of them are bud light, miller, blatz, and useless sodas. I thought all the beers were coming from people in town. I think they are coming in from above town and washing into town. This area is like finding a dump without the digging. I did pass and old farmstead on the way out, it sits downstream from the bridge. I will wade down past it tomorrow and see whats there. I did find the pint milk, no embossing, an embossed RC Cola, and the insulator, all pictured together. The other 5 pictured from left to right are, KENTON, KENTON BOTTLING WORKS, KRANTZ, FINDLAY OHIO, CONSOLIDATED BOTTLING, LIMA OHIO, VOSSLER BROS. WAPAKONETA OHIO, and NEHI BEVERAGES, COLUMBUS GEORGIA. The Nehi has a design patent date Mar. 3, 1925. Most things come out of this area chip free and intact. I also found 2 very large porcelain high voltage insulators, maybe 10 lbs a piece. I am heading back tomorrow for a more thorough search. I will let you all know how it goes, have a great one bottle people.
