Sea scape bottle!

Other than being a lovely sea scape for my collection of coral and shells, does anyone know what this is? I've had it for more than 30 years, but have no clue about it other than it looks great with my shells and sand. Just curious. Thank you so much in advance

Its a kerosene jug. There would have been a metal ring and handle as well as a metal top but those are missing.
