Old landfill in S. Seattle is revealed by new construction. Many bottles (very good to fair condition) are from 1890's to 1920's. I'm new at this so could use anybody's advice. I'll try to get photos. Back soon.
My advice would be to grab the ones that have writing, embossed in the glass.
Also look for the scarcer colors. Cobalt, amber, greens, yellow bottles tend to be worth more.
Please post some of your finds!!!
Still working on pictures. But here's what I grabbed during coffee break:
-One pint amber flask/bottle engraved with George Washington & sailing ships.
-One pint clear flask/bottle engraved with sailing ship.
-Lt. aqua-green whiskey bottle engraved label "JOHN DEWAR & SONS, Ltd DISTILLERS, PERTH.
-Lt. aqua-green 6"long neck rectangle bottle with concaved sides "CASTORIA" on one edge and "Cha---Fletchers" other edge.
-Clear 2" rectangle bottle/vial with "CUTEX" on bottom. (still corked & 1/4 full of clear fluid)
plus lots more, 2 sq. city blocks more. So much digging too little time...cont'd soon.
My name is Duncan and I live in Seattle. I am an avid digger and collector and would like to check out this site. Please write back or call 253 639-6629 to discuss. Some Wa bottles are very valuable especially territorys. We had a club meeting last night in Tukwila. Thanks, Duncan
