Just found out there used to be an old slave house in a field right by my house. Friend of mine said she used to find some old bottles on top of the ground near there most of them were medical bottles. All she knows is that the house used to stand where there is this large mound of dirt but the owners of the field recently destroyed a tree line near the area and dozed all the trees on top of the mound of dirt so it is useless to look there. Would this place have a privy and or a dump? Would if it had one, be useless to search in it because the field has been plowed and planted so many times?

It turns out that they weren't really slave houses. They were called 'darky houses'. The farm hands who were usually black lived out there but idk if they used the same privy or anything like that. most likely they didn't.

Rural privies are tough to find but being in a plowed field can actually help. Look for concentrations for ash and shards and probe these areas heavily. Dumps to country homes are normally more productive than the privies however but you never know. To answer your question, they certainly had a privy and most likely a dump or two.
