Still can't figure this one...

I believe I posted these pics several years ago (2005) and I still can not figure out what on earth this is...I'll dig it out and get some new photos of it. I found it with other bottles from the late 1790's to the mid 1800's...[:-]

Any info would be appreciated.

Hi, Well first of all, I assume it is an earthen ware product. Secondly, it looks like it must have been for a scent type of product. Not a common bottle, thats for sure. Just a unique one. I never saw one like it. RED M

I found it with other bottles from the late 1790's to the mid 1800's...

Wow. The only thing from here in the 1790s was Indians. This thing is cool. Somebody hand crafted a beauty. I have no idea of what it is, though. Doesn't seem very efficient as a typical beverage holder.

Yes, it is earthen ware... but that's all I know. I'll dig it out and measure the contents and put a ruler next to it.

I also found a nice "swaims panacea" a 1790's european snuff jar, and a few other things in the general vicinity. Hear is a photo of the group of finds from this area...

I hope to get back there this winter. The tide may have washed more bottles out into the open.[]
